(A short thought)
AI keeps getting better at the things we're good at.
And eventually it will do them better than we do. Writing, translation, autonomous driving, medicine, law, and more. It holds for every field.
AI is smarter and more efficient than us at every task. It answers instantly in whatever language you want, it can recite the entire Bible, and its analytical power is close to perfect.
We need a sense of urgency.
So what will I be better at from here on? But AI doesn't get invited to the party. We do.
People don't want to meet up with AI just because it has an advanced voice mode. We want to spend time with people. Our job is to become the kind of person others want to be around.
What ends up mattering more is
The value of writing keeps declining, and the value of speaking keeps rising.
Communication will only get more important in the post-AI era, because it's one area where AI won't beat people.
Even if AI achieves considerable technical feats, it cannot match a 'conversation' that carries the emotional connection and depth of social interaction that humans have.
And that's not all.
Can you tell AI exactly what you want? Say I have an incredible AI.
Ask, and it will do what you want. But if you can't explain it properly, you might think the AI is dumb. The one who failed, though, isn't the AI. It's the person asking.
Say 'Build a homepage and put in this and that' and the AI builds it. Say 'That is not it, make it cooler' and that just means you don't know how to explain what you want yourself.
No matter how smart AI is, I still have to spell out clearly what I want. And this isn't just about talking to AI. It also takes the awareness to notice that another person is trying to understand what I'm asking.
Let's prepare.
In the end, it's communication ability, and that's a management skill.
Standing on the renewal screen, it occurred to me that I could just build the thing myself. I cannot write code, but I can make judgments, so I split those two apart and cleared three problems on the way to a blog that finally fits.
